Program Overview: In this presentation, the speaker will give an overview of the history of hormone therapy and how it has affected today's prescribing practice. |
Objectives: - To understand the cultural influences that affected prescribing practices for HRT in menopausal women.
- Understand the WHI study results and limitations.
- Improved management of menopausal symptoms by practicing physicians.
Knowledge Gap: Lack of understanding the purpose and results of the WHI and its effects on prescribing practices today. |
Speaker Bio: Janet Cathey, MD completed her OBGYN residency at UAMS in 1986. She had a very successful private practice in Little Rock for 23 years until a spinal cord injury forced her in to retirement. She returned to UAMS in 2013 in a teaching position and is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her teaching efforts awarded her the RED SASH & the Golden Apple. |
