Program Overview:

Dr. Hal Hedges, MD discusses the importance of treating obesity in the primary care setting.  Dr. Hedges describes reasons why this has not be done in the past and addresses the barriers to treatment in the family practice setting.

Objectives:

1. List common reasons obesity is not adequately addressed in primary care visits.

2. Describe strategies to appropriately address weight loss with primary care patients.

3. Verbalize steps providers can take to improve obesity outcomes.

Speaker Bio:
Hal Hedges, III is a primary care physician in Little Rock with several decades of experience. He recently began treating obese patients in a group setting at a local free clinic in addition to keeping a busy clinical practice schedule.
