| GERIATRICS ADVANCED PRACTICE PROGRAM (GAP)|
Please listen to a video message from our director, Dr. Claudia Beverly. The purpose of Geriatrics Advanced Practice program is to strengthen
academic-practice partnerships to prepare an interprofessional geriatric
primary care workforce for practice in rural and medically underserved areas.
The GAP program provides education
and training for academic-practice partners in:
- Care of Older Adults
- Inter-Professional Education using Telehealth and other Technologies
- Clinical Education Principles for Preceptors
- Knowledge and Understanding of Culture of Health focused care, especially in Rural Areas in Arkansas
is to recruit, retrain, and retain expert interprofessional geriatric clinical preceptors in rural areas. This will improve learning experiences of Advanced Geriatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) students for practice readiness in underserved, rural environments. We also aim to recruit NPs in these rural areas currently trained in other specialties to complete an AGPCNP Post-master’s Program or a Gerontological Certificate Program to enhance their clinical expertise.
