Program Overview:
This presentation will give an overview of palliative care, along with practical resources for providers.

Objectives:  

  1. Define palliative care and discuss how it differs from hospice.
  2. Discuss the benefits of providing palliative care to patients with a serious illness.
  3. Discuss recent palliative care initiatives in the state and describe practical resources available to providers.

Speaker Bio:
Sarah Harrington, MD, FAAHPM is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the UAMS Department of Internal Medicine, in the Hem/ONC Divisoin.  Dr. Harrington is also the Medical Director of the UAMS Palliative Care Program, and Chief of the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System.
