First Aid Review for Nurses
This course is a review of first aid for nurses who need to perform first aid outside of the hospital setting.
Program Overview: This program trains nurses to provide first aid in a non-clinical, community setting. |
Objectives: At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to - Provide basic first aid in a non-clinical, community setting.
- Identify the steps used to assess a sick or injured person in a non-clinical, community setting.
- Manage unconscious adults, soft tissue injuries, muscle/bone/joint injuries, and ineffective respiration.

Speaker Bio: Cheryl Schmidt, PhD, RN, CNE, ANEF, FAAN is a recipient of the Florence Nightingale award for nursing and is a disaster response instructor. She is an Associate Professor of Nursing at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and has been a Red Cross nurse since 1974. She trained 180 RNs for work in shelters after Hurricane Katrina and continues to develop nurse education to prepare RNs for mass casualty events. |
