Female Urinary Incontinence

This program provides a brief overview of Urogynecology practice as well as a brief review of female pelvic anatomy and the initial history and exam for urinary complaints in the female patient. She will cover differential diagnosis of urinary incontinence and then cover in detail the diagnosis and treatment of stress urinary incontinence and urge urinary incontinence. The presentation will also include a review of clinical pearls for practice.

Objectives:

  • To review/discuss urogynecology practice and basic work up of urinary complaints.
  • To diagnose and treat stress incontinence and urge incontinence
  • To identify clinical pearls related to urinary complaints in women.


Presenter's Bio:
Becca Austin completed her BA in Biology at Hendrix College in 2003 and her BSN at UAMS in 2004. She has previously worked as an RN in the NICU at AR Children’s Hospital and also as an RN on the Antepartum Postpartum unit at UAMS. She completed her MNSc in Women’s Health in 2009. For the last 2.5 years she has worked as a women’s health APN in the department of Obstetrics and gynecology at UAMS, focusing primarily on complex GYN care. She also works with the ANGELS Telecolposcopy program. In the last year she has focused on the specialty of Urogynecology here at UAMS, where she works closely with Arkansas’ only Fellowship trained Urogynecologist, Dr. Susan Barr.
